Where to begin? I guess my recent visit to Shanghai is as good as any place to start. I felt like Marco Polo embarking on his first voyage to Asia! For my western eyes, the sights, the sounds and the density of hundreds of skyscrapers was a remarkable experience. If I had access to the H.G. Wells’ time machine and could journey back in time to the late 1800s, I might have witnessed the same dynamic growth that occurred in New York, Chicago, or any other great American city.

Think of all of the greats of the art world, and of art history. Now think of what would happen, had we never seen their work because it had been destroyed before the rest of us even got a chance to see what they had to offer.
Making your statement, whether you do it on a canvas, or you carve a whimsical woman from a block of marble, is the best thing that you can do for yourself, as an artist.
Adding fine art to your home can be quite an undertaking. You have to decide what subject matters would be acceptable and what matters will be unacceptable to display on your wall. For example, if you love family scenes, maybe you’ll look for paintings depicting fathers with their sons. But if you’re squeamish, you should probably avoid paintings that focus on the bloodiest battle of The Crusades.
