Daphnis and Chloe is a story from the 3rd century AD, written by poet, Longus. It tells the tale of a shepherd boy and girl who fall passionately in love--but encounter great trials and tribulations due to their tendencies to act, as the author says, even more awkwardly "than rams and ewes."
