From 1957 to 1960, Chagall worked on the lithographs for ‘Daphnis and Chloé’, basing them on paintings he executed in Greece. Considered by many to be one of his most important graphic series, the unrestricted use of color combined with romantic symbolism establishes this magnificent set of lithographs as a supreme artistic achievement by Chagall at the height of his powers.
