Signed and dated in the plate lower left ‘Rembrandt. f. 1646.’
A late 17th/early 18th century impression of White and Boon’s second and final state. New Hollstein’s II state (of III), in which the narrow white strip on the forearm has been shaded, and the shadows on the upper arm strengthened with cross-hatching.

From the collection of Seymour Haden with signature verso (Lugt 1227) (Seymour Haden was Whistler’s brother-in-law, himself a renowned collector of fine Rembrandt etchings).
