Description: A very rare etching and engraving on laid paper. Good but slightly later impression of second and final state. Containing finely etched lines in a combination of landscape and figurative studies, this work is radiantly luminescent in the quality of lightness surrounding the central figures. Exquisitely etched, featuring fine traces of burr in the cloak of the apostle, Philip. White and Boon's second and final state, showing the further shading added to the waterfall and the bank on the right. Verso there is a Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York stamp (L. 1943), with their duplicate stamp (cf L. 1808h). There is also another indistinct collector's stamp.
