Description: A unique bon à tirer impression, with hand-coloring in pochoir by the artist. From the portfolio "Le Bestiaire de la Fontaine," comprising 12 original engravings with hand-coloring in pochoir. Bon à tirer means "good to pull." This is the first perfect impression of the work and the one that will be used to judge all other impressions in the edition. Inscribed "Épreuve en BAT pour Essai couleur" (Proof in BAT for color test) by printmaker Denise Rigal in pencil verso. Dalí provided his printer J.J. Rigal with a B.A.T. for each plate and each color in this series. These were retained by Atelier Rigal for the past 40 + years. Total tirage of 682 plus proofs. Printed by Atelier Rigal, Paris.
